Our approaches and therapies
Therapies with medication

In the case of certain diseases or stages of a disease it is important to administer pharmacological medicine of short duration. But the practice Dr. Baltin understands „therapy with medication“ not as the use of chemical medicine with many and serious side effects, but we make use of the effects of different substances like vitamins, minerals and nutrients.
We fall back upon the following tried and tested methods from the alternative medicine:
Orthomolecular medicine
Orthomolecular medicine is a particular nutrient therapy during which the body receives certain substances like mineral salts, vitamins and trace elements in concentrated form. This way numerous diseases can be treated the cause of which can also be found in an imbalance of the natural nutrients in the organism.
The chemist and double Nobel-prize winner Linus Pauling (1901 – 1994) who became famous in the 1960s for research on vitamin C coined the term „orthomolecular medicine“ for the nutrient therapy. He formulated the often quoted sentence: „Orthomolecular medicine is the maintenance of health and the treatment of diseases via the change of the concentration of substances which usually can be found in the body and which are responsible for health.“
Homeopathy
Nowadays, nearly everybody is familiar with homeopathy which works according to the principle „similar things should be healed with similar things“. It means that homeopathy, in contrast to medicine from orthodox medicine, does not work against the disease, but tries to provoke the symptoms of a disease in order to activate the patient’s self-healing powers.
For more than one hundred and fifty years different catalogued, natural and usually plant-based substances are diluted with a mixture of alcohol and water or with a lactose solution with different concentrations with the result that only the information content of the medication remains. Alternative medicine within the framework of homeopathy shows that the effect of homeopathic medicine is stronger, if the remedy has been increased.
The principle of homeopathy which was discovered by the doctor Samuel Hahnemann (1755 – 1843) considers the human being as a whole. Before a homeopathic treatment a full anamnesis (interrogation of the patient) is carried out which does not only take into consideration his physical troubles and symptoms, but particularly his mood. After the first administering of homeopathic medicine it can come to worsening of the existing symptoms. This is a positive sign, since the patient reacts to the medicine. The worsening subsides quickly and what follows is the way to recovery.
Spenglersan-colloid therapy
Also the Spenglersan therapy which was named after the Swiss doctor Carl Spengler (1860 – 1937) makes use of the insights from homeopathy. Spengler worked at Robert Koch’s Berliner Institut with the Nobel-prize winners Behring und Kitasato within the framework of research on tuberculosis and immunology. During this work Spengler discovered possibilities of active and passive immunization in order to improve the immune system of ill people. He succeeded with so-called mixing effects of substances and bacteria which are known as Spenglersan-colloid medication. Colloids (from the Greek words for „glue“ and „form, appearance“) are particles or droplets which are spread in another medium (solid matter, gas or liquid), the dispersion medium.
The so-called „Spenglersans“ are homeopathically prepared bacterial products which act as microbiological micro modulators and activate the formation of antibodies. After a precise diagnosis the Spenglersans are rubbed into the skin of the elbow, the stomach or on the inside of the thighs or directly into the aching or inflammatory areas. The Spenglersans do not have any side effects and can be used for infants, small children, pregnant women and breastfeeding mothers, since there is no alcohol as excipient.
Phytotherapy
Phytotherapy or herbalism can fall back upon an old tradition and is part of medicine. It combines natural-scientific medical methods with traditional experiences. The effect of many medicinal plants is scientifically proven and alternative medicine shows that the effect of plant-based medicine is often better than of chemically isolated substances.
But as in the case of pharmacological medicine, it is important to make a proper choice, to apply it properly and to handle it in a responsible way. The range of indications is vast: plant-based medicine can be used e.g. for cardiovascular diseases, stomach diseases, intestinal diseases, liver diseases, gal bladder complaints, diseases of the respiratory tracts and skin diseases, but also in a supportive and relieving way for chronic and serious diseases. Moreover, plant-based medicine is used to treat psychological troubles and has proven in the case of sleeping disorders, lethargy, states of panic and consequences of stress.
Depending on the diagnosis and the individual case of illness, our practice clinic uses numerous other therapies with medication which follow the principle „best effect with least side effects“.
