Hormone therapy

Hormones are various biochemical messengers or information transmitters which are responsible for all vital processes in our body. They are produced in endocrine (hormone producing) organs like the brain, suprarenal glands, pancreas, thyroid gland, but also in the ovaries and testicles, reach the single organs via the blood circulation and affect the metabolism via hormone receptors.
Our hormonal system is a sensitive and perfectly balanced mechanism which also controls the process of growing old. Hormones are mainly produced in the development stage and in the period of growth, later its production decreases constantly. Thus, women usually reach the so-called menopause at the age of 50 when the ovaries stop producing hormones. For many women the climacteric is characterized by unpleasant effects like hot flushes, reduction in productivity, changes of the skin and its elasticity as well as intense mood swings. But also men may encounter unpleasant accompanying symptoms like potency disorders, erectile dysfunctions and loss of libido during changes in the hormonal balance.
In the case of some diseases a hormone analysis to which belongs the examination of the so-called neurotransmitters (they are responsible for the brain functions) makes sense. In many cases hormones do not have to be administered necessarily. A harmonious interaction is aimed at with the help of orthomolecular medicine, peptide treatments, ozone, acupuncture, neural therapy and so on, just to mention some measures. It turned out how dangerous the substitution of hormones can be, as was found in extensive international studies some years ago: the substitution of hormones during the female menopause can lead to a higher risk of getting a cardiac infarct and cancer. Also in the case of the pill many young women have gallstones, higher liver function readings and a higher risk of getting thrombosis (particularly in the case of smokers).
Considering that the hormonal system is an important regulator for the interaction of many body functions, which works with homeopathic doses, it is important not to block this highly sensitive interaction at some control centres and to remove it thus from the function cycle. This can lead to grave dysfunctions. This is known from cortisone, a very important medicine for acute emergencies, which however shows its Janus head in the case of chronic administering.
In the case of many chronic diseases one can very often find a „stale“ adrenalin level, which paves the way for many metabolic dysfunctions. In the case of the so-called “burnout” syndrome, cancer diseases and chronic infectious diseases such drastically changed values are common. Nowadays, the adrenalin level can be measured easily, therefore it can be tested during a course of treatment.
Natural healing or the regulation or complementary medicine – whatever it may be called – tries to restabilize these regulation circles, to “recoach” them and to strengthen them where there are weak spots with different methods. Priest Kneipp did this with cold water, others with fasting or certain types of food and still others with acupuncture, yoga, meditation, psychotherapy, setting bones or many other possibilities which are meant to activate the regulation. Orthodox medicine, which mainly treats the symptoms rather than the causes, acts differently. The only important thing is to combine both according to the situation and free from philosophical beliefs in a way that one integrates the modern progress into a medical structure which has coined our society up until some decades ago.
From this point of view complementary medicine is not a passing fashion, but a forerunner of our modern medicine. Only people without social ties and without a sense of family do not know where it comes from.
